An Incredible 20-Page 1998 Car Purchase Document Archive is now available for purchase at the Amazing Music Auction. The archive contains three signed documents, and it’s the first time for any kind memorabilia with Marshall’s legal name signatures is made available to collectors.
If you Google “Eminem Cars”, you’ll probably find a depiction of his stable of 6 to 7-figure valued vehicles from major brands like Ferrari and Porsche. However, Marshall wasn’t always a rockstar and there was a time when the rides he owned were more akin to the broken and bruised 88 Delta that Eminem raps about in the 8 Mile film.
A struggling rapper making a living as a dish washer and cook in fast food joints, Eminem purchased a used 1993 Plymouth Laser RS for $6,995.00, putting $3,000 as down payment and financing the balance. The 3 pages of documents feature 4 live full-name “Marshall Mathers” ink signatures along with 3 live ink “MM” initials. It’s an incredibly rare artifact that most Shady fans and nerd-collectors of Eminem memorabilia would die for.
It’s striking that a document preserved for 25 years since the transaction occurred is in quite the fine condition.
Research has been made to confirm that Eminem owned the car for less than a year and that in nine months after the car was purchased, The Slim Shady LP was released on Interscope Records on February 23, 1999 and took the world by storm, propelling Marshall to stardom. According to public record, the car was sold just two days after the feat, so this car was likely Eminem’s final vehicle before Shady’s traversal into celebrity status.
The documents are sold together with Letters of Authenticity provided by James Spence Authentication (JSA). There’s 6 days until the lot closes and the starting bid is $5,000. If you are an avid collector, don’t miss out on the chance!
