Justin and Hailey Bieber’s love story began more than ten years ago, when they were introduced backstage at one of Justin’s Today show appearances in November 2009. At the time, Hailey was just twelve years old, and their meeting was captured on camera.
Hailey shyly shook Justin’s hand, prompted by her dad, Stephen Baldwin, who was friends with Justin’s mother, Pattie Mallette.
Their paths crossed again in February 2011 when they attended the premiere of Justin’s documentary, Never Say Never, in New York City. Hailey clarified in an interview that she found Justin “cute,” but she was never a die-hard fan. She admitted to never really thinking about him in any other way except for his looks, as they had a significant age gap in the beginning.

Hailey publicly expressed her support for Justin’s relationship with Selena Gomez in 2011, tweeting about their teenage dream-like romance. She tweeted about Justin’s hair in 2012, calling it “dark” and complimenting it.
In November 2014, Justin and Hailey were seen together at Hillsong Church in New York, where their friendship began to develop further. Justin noticed that Hailey had grown older, and they started spending more time together as close friends. They denied dating rumors in December 2014, insisting they were just good friends.
The couple celebrated New Year’s Eve together in both 2014 and 2015. They took a vacation to Mexico in December 2015, joining Justin’s family. Shortly after, they shared a New Year’s kiss at Leonardo DiCaprio’s party in St. Barts.

In early 2016, Justin spoke about his relationship with Hailey in a cover story for GQ. He described her as someone he truly loved but expressed hesitancy in committing due to his past behavior and desire not to hurt her. Hailey confirmed they were not an exclusive couple and emphasized the complications of relationships at a young age.
Unfortunately, their relationship came to a dramatic end in 2016, with Hailey later admitting there were negative experiences they needed to work through. They stopped being friends for a while, resulting in a lot of weirdness between them.
However, in June 2018, they found their way back to each other. Their reconciliation happened at a church conference in Miami, and they quickly rekindled their romance. Their relationship became more public with several affectionate public appearances, culminating in a surprise engagement in the Bahamas in July 2018.

Justin confirmed the engagement on Instagram, expressing his love for Hailey and his commitment to their future together. The couple moved in together, got married in a civil ceremony in September 2018, and officially changed Hailey’s last name to Bieber on social media.
In 2019, the couple appeared on the cover of Vogue and continued to navigate the challenges of marriage in their early 20s. They had a larger wedding ceremony in South Carolina in September 2019.
In 2020, they opened up about their marriage in Justin’s docu-series, Seasons, expressing their happiness and commitment to each other. They also got matching peach tattoos to celebrate Justin’s hit single, “Peaches.”

As for their plans for the future, Hailey revealed in February 2022 that they are not ready for children yet, but they hope to expand their family in the next few years.
Unfortunately, in March 2022, Hailey was hospitalized for a mini-stroke, which Justin described as a scary experience. They continue to support each other through the ups and downs of life.
