Jelly Roll Hails Eminem’s Poignant ‘Somebody Save Me’ Video ‘Unbelievable’

Jelly Roll, the rising star known for his heartfelt music and raw honesty, recently expressed his awe at being part of one of Eminem’s most emotional projects to date. The iconic rapper and producer sampled Jelly Roll’s award-winning single, “Save Me,” in a genre-blending track titled “Somebody Save Me.” This track is one of 19 that appear on Eminem’s latest album, The Death of Slim Shady (Coup de Grâce), released in July.

In a heartfelt post on X, formerly known as Twitter, Jelly Roll wrote on July 12, “I can’t believe I’m on Eminem’s album.” The collaboration has clearly had a profound impact on Jelly Roll, who has often spoken about how deeply Eminem’s music resonates with him.

“I related to every word Eminem wrote. I understand him and felt like he understood me, which was rare cause I spent most of my life feeling misunderstood,” Jelly Roll shared in a moving Instagram post on the same day. He went on to describe the overwhelming emotions he felt when he learned that Eminem would be sampling his song “Save Me” on the album. “For him to use the song to discuss the other side of what could’ve happened if he would’ve allowed his demons to win brought me to tears,” he added, highlighting the personal connection he feels to the track.

On Tuesday evening (August 20), Jelly Roll previewed the music video for “Somebody Save Me” on Instagram, calling it “absolutely unbelievable.” The video, which premiered the following morning, is a poignant visual journey through moments that Eminem missed with his family—his kids, his brother, and his nephews—due to the demands of his career and personal struggles. The video incorporates touching home videos and concludes with a nod to Better Help, promoting online therapy as a resource for those in need.

The collaboration between Jelly Roll and Eminem is more than just a musical partnership; it’s a meeting of two artists who have battled their own demons and used their platforms to explore and share their vulnerabilities. Jelly Roll’s admiration for Eminem is palpable, and his involvement in “Somebody Save Me” is a testament to the deep connection both artists have with their audience.

As Jelly Roll continues to rise in the music world, this collaboration with Eminem serves as a powerful reminder of the impact that music can have on our lives, offering solace, understanding, and a sense of connection, even in the darkest of times. The video for “Somebody Save Me” is not just a tribute to Eminem’s journey but also a celebration of the resilience and strength it takes to overcome life’s greatest challenges.
