Some people are not happy…
Eminem’s new album has been labelled ‘the best album of the decade’ by fans of the rapper after his latest music was released yesterday.
Titled ‘The Death of Slim Shady (Coup de Grâce)’ the release is the legendary rapper’s 12th studio album and fans think it’s some of his best work yet.
The album features 19 tracks including already released singles Tobey and Houdini, as well as a sequel to his 1999 hit Guilty Conscience with Dr Dre which Billboard ranked highly saying, “it’s not the original, but is a worthy second coming”.
However, not everyone is happy with the rapper, and one lyric in particular is facing criticism from listeners.
In one track titled Fuel, the rapper references the shooting of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins on the set of the film Rust.
Alec Baldwin, who was starring in the film, was holding and discharged the prop gun that killed the 42-year-old wife and mother in October 2021.
The now 66-year-old actor has always denied the charge of involuntary manslaughter, and maintained he did not pull the gun’s trigger and that others on the set of the film were responsible for safety checks on the weapon.
Earlier today, a judge dismissed Baldwin’s involuntary manslaughter case following a motion filed by his defence team accusing the prosecution of concealing evidence.
However, Eminem’s reference to the incident has many listeners outraged, with some deeming it ‘sick’ and ‘tasteless’.
The lyrics go: “But it’s in a holster, I proceed to bust it/ F**k around and get popped like Halyna Hutchins
“Like I’m Alec Baldwin, what I mean is buckin’ you down, coup de grâce then.”

The track list was unveiled by Apple Music on July 10, just two days prior to the album’s release.
However, the rapper issued a warning to his fans on the eve of its release.
On X, he wrote: “Public service announcement: the “death of slim shady” is a conceptual album, therefore, if you listen to songs out of order they might not make sense. Enjoy.”
Fans found this warning somewhat baffling, with many questioning those who would listen to a new album for the first time out of order.
One person replied: “I was always going to listen to it from beginning to end GOAT.”
“I don’t get along with people who do not listen to a new album in order,” another said.
While a third joked: “I’m starting in the middle now thanks man.”
The rapper from Saint Joseph, Missouri, is one of the biggest artists of all time selling 220 million records.
His last album, Music to Be Murdered By, was released in 2020.
