In a shocking twist during his Complex interview, Eminem confessed that his controversial album, “Relapse”, might actually be a classic.
The revelation came during a heated exchange with his alter ego, Slim Shady. Eminem did not hold back calling Slim Shady out on punching down and pretending not to give a fuck while being, in fact, very concerned with how people saw him.
Never one to shy away from a verbal battle, he accused Slim Shady of almost destroying their career with the “Relapse” single.
Marshall: Remember “We Made You”? You almost fucking killed our career with that one.
Slim Shady: Are you fucking kidding me? No one told your retarded ass to go record an entire album in accents.
But Marshall fired back, defending his decision to experiment with different vocal styles at that stage of his journey:
I was in recovery, okay? I had to relearn how to rap. And for what it’s worth, there’s an entire generation of people who think that’s a fucking classic.
Yes, there is.
While “Relapse” initially received mixed reviews, its unique sound and experimental approach have gained a cult following over the years. The album’s unique energy and the sheer effort of a genius rapper feeling his way back out from hell are unmatched.
