Eminem has been relatively quiet for the past year or two, at least when it comes to sharing music where he leads the charge. Late last week, the rapper returned with his first single in some time, “Houdini.” The tune appears to be headed for a huge debut on the Billboard charts, and it seems like it heralds the beginning of an exciting new chapter for the hip-hop star.

“Houdini” looks like it’s about to debut very, very high on a number of Billboard’s weekly rankings. When the company refreshes its rankings in a few days, there’s a good chance that Eminem will appear inside the loftiest reaches on several rosters with his new drop, and he may even be able to snag a few new No. 1s.

According to chart predictors, such as Talk Of The Charts, “Houdini” is on track for a top five start on the Hot 100. While not associated with Billboard, these online accounts are typically very good when it comes to guessing where a new release will debut on the most important tallies in America.

At the moment, “Houdini” is predicted to open at No. 2 on the Hot 100 next week. Eminem is surely hoping for another No. 1, but that might not be in the cards for him–or almost anyone else–at the moment.

This week, the Hot 100 is dominated once again by “I Had Some Help” by Post Malone and Morgan Wallen. That single debuted in first place on the roster three weeks ago, and it’s held there ever since. The country cut is still incredibly popular, and it may prove too beloved to best.

“Houdini” has been advancing in its predicted opening slot since it first dropped. A few days into its first tracking week, the tune was expected to open inside the top 10. Since then, the cut has continued to perform well, as it’s ruled iTunes and held as a streaming favorite. That sustained interest has led to a revised projection of a runner-up start.

Eminem is likely about to earn his twenty-third career top 10 hit on the Hot 100, at least on his own. He’s sent five tracks to No. 1 on the tally, and there is still a chance that “Houdini” will reach the summit…though it may not be able to do so upon its arrival.

When “Houdini” hits the Hot 100, it will also reach several of Billboard’s rap and hip-hop charts at the same time. Eminem will have a much better chance of ruling those lists. His new smash could easily top half a dozen or more rosters from the jump.
